Connective Tissue Grafting

Recession is a common problem among patients.  Sometimes this recession requires treatment to increase the amount of gum tissue present around the tooth.  Connective tissue grafting provides an avenue to achieve this.

Connective tissue can be obtained from a patient's palate (from underneath the palatal skin) and grafted onto the site with recession.

Also, some recession sites are good candidates for connective tissue grafting with Alloderm.  Alloderm is a matrix that is similar to one's own connective tissue.  Using this material makes the obtaining of connective tissue from the palate unecessary.  Please visit the link to the Alloderm website available on our links page.

Every patient's clinical presentation and situation is different in regards to recession and gingival grafting.  We are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding this procedure.
